One of the best-selling mangas in the world, Nobuhiro Watsuki's drama Rurouni Kenshin is set in the Edo era of Japan. The martial arts/adventure/romance drama has sold over 72 million copies. Rurouni Kenshin follows a former assassin as he travels the country atoning for his past atrocities, which ran from 1994 to 1999. In 1996, the series was converted into a TV anime, followed by an anime film in 1997 and three OVAs from 1999 to 2012. Rurouni Kenshin: The Hokkaido Arc, a sequel manga, is now running in Jump Square.
However, after nearly 23 years of waiting, LINDEN FILMS, known for works like Tokyo Revengers, have decided to revive the infamous series in order to bring the anime to a younger audience.
A teaser video featuring Kenshin Himura, the legendary swordsman, was released. More information will be shared later.
If you want to relive the original series, Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, and HBO Max have it available for streaming!
