Exploring the Most Memorable Dragon Ball Wishes

by Jenni on Dec 12, 2022

Dragon Ball is a beloved franchise that has captured the hearts of anime and manga fans all over the world. One of the most intriguing aspects of the series is the concept of the Dragon Balls themselves. These mystical artifacts, when gathered together, allow their user to summon a powerful dragon who can grant any wish they desire. Over the course of the series, we've seen many characters make use of the Dragon Balls to fulfill their greatest desires. In this blog post, we'll explore some of the most memorable wishes made with the Dragon Balls.

1. Bringing back the dead

One of the most common uses of the Dragon Balls is to revive the dead. This is a wish that has been made numerous times throughout the series, often to bring back beloved characters who have fallen in battle. In the Saiyan Saga, for example, the Dragon Balls are used to bring back Goku, who sacrificed himself to defeat the evil Saiyan warrior, Raditz. Later in the series, we see the Dragon Balls used to bring back other fallen heroes, such as Krillin and Yamcha.

2. Immortality

Another popular wish that has been made with the Dragon Balls is for immortality. Many characters in the series have sought to live forever, either to achieve their goals or simply to avoid death. However, this wish often comes with unintended consequences. In the original Dragon Ball series, a villain named King Piccolo makes a wish for eternal youth, which allows him to rule the world unopposed for years. However, his immortality eventually leads to his downfall, as he is defeated by Goku and sealed away for centuries.

3. Restoring youth

On the flip side of immortality, the Dragon Balls can also be used to restore youth. This is a wish that is made by the villainous Pilaf in the early episodes of Dragon Ball. Pilaf wishes to become ruler of the world, but accidentally phrases his wish in a way that turns him, along with his henchmen, into children. While this wish doesn't quite go as planned, it does set up a hilarious subplot in which Pilaf and his minions attempt to regain their adult forms.

4. Changing location

The Dragon Balls can also be used to teleport people and objects to different locations. In Dragon Ball Z, the villain Frieza uses the Dragon Balls to transport himself and his army to Earth, where he hopes to destroy the planet and eliminate the Saiyan race. Later in the series, we see the Dragon Balls used to transport Goku and his friends to different planets and dimensions, allowing them to explore the vast Dragon Ball universe.

5. Erasing memories

In the Dragon Ball Super manga, a character named Moro uses the Dragon Balls to erase the memories of an entire planet. This wish is made in order to cover up his tracks and prevent anyone from learning his true identity. While this wish is certainly a creative use of the Dragon Balls, it also highlights the potential dangers of these powerful artifacts falling into the wrong hands.

Overall, the Dragon Balls are a fascinating and integral part of the Dragon Ball universe. While the series has explored many different wishes that can be made with these powerful artifacts, it's clear that there are still countless possibilities waiting to be discovered. As the series continues to evolve, we can't wait to see what new and creative ways the Dragon Balls will be used to shape the fate of the universe.
